Please join us for a pleasant stroll at Cornerstone Gardens to welcome the spring on May 6, 2012. We will also be holding a brief meeting at which we will announce the slate of board candidates for next year.
Our trip to Cornerstone Gardens was our most popular event last year. We decided to hold the event again in the spring so that we may enjoy the warmer weather. Cornerstone Gardens is a combination of different types of gardens designed by prominent landscapers. You will be able to see how nature and art blend in their works. You will be experiencing the gardens through all of your senses: sight, smell and touch. In addition to the gardens, there are stores to wander through and shopping opportunities galore. The gardens are handicap accessible. The paths are flat either with dirt or stones. Admission to the gardens is free. For more information about Cornerstone Gardens, you may check out their website at
Unfortunately the cute restaurant at Cornerstone Gardens has closed. Therefore, after our walk, we will have lunch in Sonoma at the Sunflower Caffe and Espresso Bar. The address is 421 First Street West, Sonoma CA 95476 (707) 996-6645.
Please bring water, a hat and comfortable shoes. Meet us at CBI at 10:00 a.m. if you wish to carpool. RSVP to Geri Kahn if you are able to offer a ride or would like a ride. If you would like to meet at Cornerstone, plan to meet us in front at 11:00 a.m.
The Central Pacific Coast region of Hadassah held its spring meeting on May 17, 2009 in Pleasanton, CA. Members of our chapter, Shoshana Nurik, Susan Cohen-Grossman, and Geri Kahn, attended. There were approximately 30 people in attendance over all.
Liz Alpert, president of our region, gave an interesting report. She told us that Hadassah hospital in partnership with Hebrew University will be opening up a new medical school. She also summarized the fundraising efforts of our region. In our region we raised $91,385.00 from the latest campaign.
The regional board gave out awards to the various chapters in our region. Our chapter won three awards: for the bulletin, in programming, and in membership. We have a great deal to be proud of as these accomplishments are a result of a lot of hard work from our members.
We received a regional calendar at the meeting and I have posted all the events for the next year on the blog in the right column.
The last item of business at the meeting was the installation of the new officers for next year. Susan Cohen-Grossman from our chapter was installed as the regional communications vice president.
On May 24th, 2009, at 12:00 noon, we will be celebrating the installation of our chapter board. The event will take place at the home of Sheryl Meade. Prior to the installation, at 10:00 a.m., our Machon group will be meeting at the same location.
