Hadassah Tea – music and discussion on women’s health

Please join the Solano-Napa chapter for an afternoon of tea and music in Napa.  We will also be having a speaker speak about women’s health.  The event will take place on August 22, 2010 from 2:00 p.m- to 4:00 p.m. at a private home in Napa.  Light refreshments will be served.  A donation of $18.00 is requested.  For more information and to RSVP,  please contact Geri Kahn at hadassahvallejo@gmail.com.

As a reminder, our chapter is collecting recycled toner cartridges and cell phones as a fundraiser.  If you have cartridges and phones at home that you would like to donate, please bring them to the event.    In order to receive money, we can only accept toner cartridges and phones that are on this list.  We cannot accept re-manufactured cartridges.

A time to dance

Dancing offers opportunities for personal expression, rejuvenation, and deepening our connection with ourselves and each other. As the spring season approaches, Hadassah invites you to join us for a dance/movement therapy workshop led by dance/movement therapist Linda Aaron-Cort.  Come and move with us in a circle, and take time to explore your creativity through movement—whether it is through quiet breath, soulful stretching, or stamping feet. No previous dance experience is necessary, but do wear comfortable clothing.

Linda has been a dance therapist for 25 years and has worked and taught in a wide range of clinical and educational settings, but most importantly, she brings a contagious enthusiasm and joy to her classes.

Date:  Sunday, March 14, 2010, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Cost:  $18 donation requested  (Check payable to Solano-Napa Hadassah; please mail in advance so that money doesn’t need to be handled the day of the event.)

Location:  a dance studio in the Benicia Arsenal (directions will be given upon receiving reservation)

For more information, please contact Susan Cohen-Grossman.  Her contact information is in the Hadassah Napa-Solano directory or email:  hadassahvallejo@gmail.com.  See also the attached flyer for more information

Brighton Beach Memoirs in Vallejo

Neil Simon’s play, Brighton Beach Memoirs, will be presented this weekend by the Mira Theatre Guild at the Bay Terrace Theater in Vallejo, California.  As a special fundraiser for Hadassah, they have offered our chapter a small percentage of the money from the tickets sold to Hadassah members.  The play will be shown on February 19 and 20th at 8:00 p.m and at 2:00 p..m on February 21.

If you wish to attend Friday’s performance, please contact Rachel Lessem and she will make arrangements to meet prior to the performance to collect the money.  Tickets are $15.00 each.  We are looking for volunteers to meet Hadassah members/supporters at the Saturday and Sunday performances.  Please contact Rachel if you are able to volunteer.  Rachel’s contact information may be found in the Hadassah directory or you may email us at hadassahvallejoblog.com.

Upcoming events in February: Machon and 52/100

February is a busy month for our chapter.  This Sunday, February 7, at 10:30 a.m., our Machon group is meeting at CBI.  You can see this meeting and future Machon meetings listed on the right column of the blog under the category of events.   We are discussing Zionism and our feelings and American attitudes about the topic.   New and interested members are welcome to attend.  Our group is facilitated by Rachel Lessem.

The next event our, 52/100, is our biggest fund raising event of the year.  It will take place on February 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.  The ”52/100″ works this way:  You choose a playing card in advance and donate $100 for it; if your card is selected, you get $1000.  If not, you still can win a door prize or raffle items at the event.  Couvert (food costs) is only $9 this year as we’re focusing on desserts.  It will be a fun, gala, local event, full of happy people supporting a great cause.  If you are interested in attending, you may fill out the attached Invitation to the 52/100 and send it in.  Hope to see you there.

Donor concert in Napa celebrating Fran Rosenberg and women’s health

napa

Please join us on April 19th, 2009 for a donor concert celebrating the life of Fran Rosenberg and of Hadassah Women’s Health programs.  Fran Rosenberg was a very active 50-year member of Hadassah. She had deep roots with many Hadassah members — especially loved women’s health — and was a strong supporter of stem cell research.

The concert will take place at a private home in Napa from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The performer is Daphna Rahmi, soloist and violinist.   Daphna performs both as a singer and a violinist in a Bay Area Klezmer band, “Klezmakers” and in a duo called “Rahmil and Barley”.  You can read more about her on her website.   Afternoon tea will be served.

We ask that guests donate to this event in increments of Chai — $36, $54, $72, $90 or $108 – and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday, April 19th.  For more information, please email us at hadasashvallejo@gmail.com.

Escrip- the easiest fundraiser for our chapter

changeFor those of you who receive our chapter’s newsletter, you will see an article about how to sign up for escrip.  I think it is worth reprinting here so those who have not seen the article or who have but have misplaced the newsletter, can find the information here.  The following was written by Alisya Danyeur.

What is eScrip?

EScrip is a hassle-free way for our chapter to raise funds through everyday purchases made with EScrip merchants.

How does it work?

EScrip and hundreds of merchant partners have created a system that rewards customer loyalty by contributing

a percentage of purchases to our chapter. You shop the way you like to shop for groceries, clothing,

travel and entertainment. It’s simple and convenient, all you need to do is register your grocery club card and

debit/credit card(s).

Simple Registration – Register Today!

Log on to www.escrip.com and go to “sign up. Our Group ID # is 140432208. Register your grocery club cards from a participating merchant — and your debit, ATM and credit cards if you wish.

That’s it! Visit EScrip merchants to shop. It’s automatic! We can potentially receive hundreds of dollars from your participation alone!
